PACCAR is participating in the CES 2019 show in Las Vegas, Nevada during the week of January 7. CES is one of the world’s largest showcases for the latest in technological innovation.
Further major fleet order for DAF Trucks
Renowned international transport company, Hegelmann Transporte Group, is expanding its fleet with 540 DAFs XF 480 Super Space Cab. The tractor units will be supplied to the south German company on a programmed delivery throughout 2019 and 2020. It is the third large order in quick succession for DAF Trucks following orders for 400 trucks from waste-to-product company Renewi, and a 1,500 unit order from fleet operator Girteka Logistics.
Large-scale field testing begins
DAF Trucks has today delivered its first fully electric truck to Dutch supermarket chain, Jumbo. The CF Electric has been developed in a joint venture between DAF and VDL, and will be used by Jumbo to supply its supermarkets in the south of the Netherlands. Jumbo CEO Frits van Eerd was handed the keys to the DAF CF Electric by DAF Trucks President Harry Wolters alongside Willem van der Leegte, President and CEO of VDL Groep.
DAF Driver magazine gets bigger and better; more pages, more stories, more variety
Four years after the launch of the original DAF Driver magazine, the popular publication has been completely redesigned and relaunched. The quarterly title, which focuses on all things DAF, is produced and distributed by Commercial Vehicle Media & Publishing and is available to drivers free-of-charge at hundreds of transport outlets, truck stops and truck washes across the UK, as well as at DAF dealers.

For the second year in succession, DAF Trucks has scooped the ‘Truck of the Year’ title for its market-leading DAF LF range at the 2018 Commercial Fleet Awards. The award follows last year’s Fleet Truck of the Year prize for the DAF LF, and again in 2016 with the Urban Delivery Truck category.
A1600 clocks-up an impressive 50 years — and still going strong
"Our truck may be 50 years old, but it is still a long way off retirement". Following an international search, DAF has found the oldest DAF truck still in commercial use — and it is in operation almost every day. The truck in question is an astonishingly sprightly A1600 owned by Frits and Nicky Hoefnagels, who use it to transport a nostalgia-filled fairground attraction all over the Netherlands. "Yes, of course we use it just like any other truck,” said Frits, “What else is a DAF truck for?"
Based on outstanding in-service experience, leading European transport company Girteka Logistics has ordered a further 1,500 DAF XF trucks. Earlier this year, Girteka Logistics has taken delivery of an initial 500 DAF XF tractors.
Special edition DAF XF 530 FTG joins young 30+ fleet on tough waste work
Highly regarded Bo’ness haulier, Derek Heeps Ltd., has boosted the fleet’s on-the-road presence with a 90th Anniversary DAF XF 530 FTG. The eye-catching metallic-red truck, with its distinctive DAF Super Space Cab, joins a fleet of over 30 vehicles. Over three-quarters of the fleet are already DAF, and the latest XF is part of the firm’s cycle of replacing older vehicles in order to maintain the fleet’s young age profile.
Social Media ‘likes’ result in DAF Trucks donations to Ben charity
DAF Trucks has produced an ‘ode to truck drivers’ in the shape of a specially commissioned poem and video in recognition of the vital and often challenging work that the UK’s truck driving community faces every day. All Social Media ‘likes’ in the run-up to Christmas will trigger a 50p donation from DAF Trucks to the motor industry charity, Ben.
Ford & Slater and Brian Currie both scoop top awards
DAF Dealers Ford & Slater headquartered in Leicester and Brian Currie in Milton Keynes have emerged victorious at 2018 Commercial Motor Awards. They were among 16 award winners last week at the Vox Centre, Birmingham, at the prestigious gala awards evening which recognised the truck industry’s very best sales, aftersales and support service providers.
