The DAF XF105 ATe has been voted ‘Fleet Truck of the Year’ at the prestigious ‘Motor Transport Awards 2013’ in London, giving DAF its fifth win in the last six years. DAF was handed the award at an official ceremony in London, which was attended by 1,600 leading representatives from the transport sector.
Tony Pain, 63, DAF’s long term and highly respected Marketing Director, is to retire from the company later this year.
On Friday May 17, the Prime Minister of Belgium, Elio Di Rupo, paid a working visit to the ultra-modern DAF axle and cab factory in Oevel (Westerlo). DAF invested about one billion Euros in a completely new vehicle series for Euro 6 and in modifications to its factories in the Netherlands and Belgium to make production of the new generation of trucks possible. Prime Minister Di Rupo came to DAF Trucks Flanders to inform himself of the many innovations in the modern axle and cab plant.
Jersey based freight company Ferryspeed has put 30 DAF tractor units into service to support growth in its services in mainland UK and to the Channel Islands.
New DAF, Kenworth and Peterbilt Trucks Launched

For high volume transport
DAF have introduced the new Euro 6 XF as a Low Deck tractor, specially designed for high volume transport operations. The new 4x2 tractor unit has a fifth wheel height of only 960 millimetres enabling the operation of trailers with an interior height up to three metres. Consequently, within legal parameters, load volumes of up to 100 m3 are possible.

First new XF comes off the production line
His Royal Highness the Prince of Orange officially started production of the new DAF XF on Wednesday April 3. The new truck was developed to meet the Euro 6 emissions standards that will come into force in the European Union. DAF has invested around one billion euro to develop an entirely new Euro 6 vehicle range and to prepare its production facilities in Eindhoven in the Netherlands and Westerlo in Belgium for the new generation of trucks.

A brand new development for Euro 6 with outputs of 290 to 440 hp
DAF Trucks is announcing a brand new generation of engines with a displacement volume of 10.8 litres and outputs ranging from 290 to 440 hp. The new state-of-the-art PACCAR MX-11 engine is compact and offers optimum fuel efficiency and a low weight and noise level, in combination with excellent performance and maximum reliability. The new PACCAR MX-11 engine, developed and built by DAF Trucks in Eindhoven, is scheduled to go into production in the autumn of 2013 and will be available in the new DAF Euro 6 CF and XF series.
