A trio of DAF’s new LF Construction model now in service with long-established North West scrap metal and recycling company Smith Metals are proving very productive as well as presenting a highly professional image for the company.
For maximum fuel effeciency
DAF is introducing the LF Aerobody, a 12-tonne distribution truck delivered ex-works with an aerodynamic PACCAR body. Combined with a specially developed set of spoilers and fenders, a significant saving on both fuel consumption and CO2 emissions can be realised in distribution transport applications.
The UK truck market is seeing a transformation as mergers and takeovers are resulting in fewer, larger fleet customers who demand the attention of the manufacturer. At the same time there is a growth in more sophisticated owner operator and medium fleets requiring integrated support packages for their trucks. To match these progressive changes, market leader DAF Trucks Ltd is strengthening its in house sales team based at Thame.
New Products and Strong Aftermarket Business Generate Higher Profits
“PACCAR reported record annual revenues of $17.12 billion and net income of $1.17 billion for 2013. PACCAR achieved the third best annual net profit in the company’s history and the 75th consecutive year of net income,” said Mark Pigott, chairman and chief executive officer.
The first of DAF’s new LF Construction model to come off the production line has been handed over to truck rental company Leeds Commercial at an event at the Leyland Trucks assembly plant on Thursday, 16 January.
With one on a regular run to Marseille and the other on intensive container work out of Felixstowe, two new DAF XF460 tractors will certainly be earning their keep for Northampton operator SW Wreford Transport.
The first Euro 6 compliant DAF featuring the new MX-11 engine to enter service in Scotland has just gone on the road with Pollock (Scotrans) Limited.
With its vehicles operating to strict airline schedules and some runs even being given a flight number, reliability was a key factor in the decision by Surrey based Cranleigh Freight Services to put three euro 6 DAF XF460 tractors into service ahead of the 2014 deadline.
A tailored vehicle for every application
Following the start of production of the first CF and XF Euro 6 tractor variants (4x2 and 6x2 with second steered axle) earlier this year, DAF is now further expanding the range including a complete range of three-axle rigids with trailing, second steered or tandem axles. The air suspension has been completely redeveloped, offering great advantages for applications with swap-body systems, such as the BDF, which is popular in Germany.
