BSS, the pipeline and heating supplies specialist (and part of Travis Perkins), is using one of its latest DAFs – a New CF 430 rear-steer rigid – to promote mental health charity, Mind. The New CF is also the first with an ‘FAN’ 6x2 axle configuration for BSS, joining just under 100 existing DAFs in (and 40% of) the company’s national fleet.
AG Barr, the Scottish soft drinks giant, famed worldwide for its IRN-BRU and other brands, has taken 16 DAF New LF 230 FA 18 tonne curtain-siders in a partial fleet renewal programme. They are the first DAF trucks ever to appear in the company’s 100-strong fleet. The supplying dealer is F&G Commercials, at Trafford Park, Manchester.
Editors and readers of the Slovenian truck, transport and maintenance magazines ‘Transport & Logistika’ and ‘Mehanik in Voznik’ have voted the new DAF CF and DAF XF as the ‘Slovenian Truck of the Year 2018’. Both truck series were awarded for their innovative, fuel efficient power trains and their excellent driver comfort.
The leading European transport company Girteka Logistics has ordered 500 DAF XF trucks for its international FTL operations. “Based on the excellent reliability, safety and fuel efficiency, we decided to add 500 XF trucks to our growing fleet. The majority will be put into operation between July and October 2018”, commented Mindaugas Raila, Chairman of Girteka Logistics. “These new DAF trucks are part of our plan to further expand our business throughout Europe.”
The new DAF XF has been voted ‘Truck of the Year 2018’ in Poland by readers of the leading transport magazine Polski Traker. The top-of-the-range DAF truck was singled-out for its elegant design, state-of-the-art technology and safety features and its excellent driver comfort.
Stalkers Transport Services in Brampton, Cumbria, has reported 'an uplift in fuel economy' following the delivery of six DAF New XF 480 tractor units with Super Space Cabs and 'FTG' 6x2 twin-steer axle configurations.
DAF Trucks will later this week present its New LF and New CF models at Tip-ex 2018 in Harrogate. Both vehicles will be exhibited with ‘Construction’ specifications designed for the rigours of on- / off-road applications. A New LF 260 FA 18-tonner is kindly loaned by LC Vehicle Hire in Leeds while a New CF 450 FAD eight-wheeler – supplied by DAF Dealer, Evans Halshaw – comes with a steel muckaway Thompson tipper body.
Highly respected commercial vehicle industry parts executive, Glen Crompton, has joined DAF Trucks as Parts Marketing Manager with responsibility for DAF genuine parts and for TRP – the company’s highly successful, all-makes truck-and-trailer parts brand. Glen replaces long-serving Stewart Davies who retires from the company.
Switch International has added four New DAF vehicles to its fleet at the operation’s Andover base. A subsidiary of South Wales haulier, TWT Logistics Group, Switch runs a long-distance haulage business for customers along the M4 corridor, as well as a pallet network operation that includes regular Hazchem work, in the South Coast region.
