44-truck order maintains Lincolnshire-based hauliers 100-unit DAF presence

Temperature-controlled and bulk distribution specialist, FreshLinc, has placed orders for 44 new DAF XF tractor units as replacements for existing end-of-contract vehicles. The order, through DAF Dealer Ford & Slater, is programmed for delivery from June and will retain a 100-vehicle DAF presence in the Lincolnshire haulier’s fleet of 400 trucks. With its Head Office in Spalding, FreshLinc operates out of multiple sites across the UK.

New vehicles comprise 14 DAF XF 480 6x2 tractors with ‘FTP’ lightweight mid-lift axle configuration, destined for FreshLinc’s bulk transport FLB Division. 30-off DAF XF 480 three-axle tractors with ‘FTG’ centre-steering axle are spec’d with top-of-the-range Super Space Cabs and will bolster FreshLinc’s chilled / ambient operations.

With VE Day 75 – the 75th anniversary of war ending in Europe – on 8th to 10th May, FreshLinc has shared an image of a 62-plate DAF XF105 featuring a Lancaster Bomber which DAF Trucks will post on its social channels to mark the special bank holiday weekend. The image, captured in 2012, feature’s FreshLinc’s 150th DAF at the time. The company, which moved over to the UK’s market-leading truck brand in 2008, has operated over 400 DAF units over the intervening period.

“We took our first DAFs back in December ’08”, said FreshLinc Fleet Engineer, Andy Marchant MSOE MIRTE, “and, based on my experience of the brand, this has paved the way for an excellent relationship to develop with Ford & Slater. We have worked together for more than ten years,” he said, “100s of DAFs over this time have instilled a great deal of confidence in the product. The backup we get from Ford & Slater in Spalding and Peterborough is very good indeed – they have a great team from top to bottom.”
