DAF paints the town ‘Flame Red’ at RTX

DAF Trucks is painting the town red at RTX this year – specifically ‘Flame Red’, the market-leader’s new corporate colourway for its latest model-year ’25 trucks. Three vehicles feature on DAF’s outside stand, complementing the company’s main inside stand which is focusing on its zero-emissions electric vehicles.

Revealed towards the end of 2024, DAF’s latest New Generation vehicles feature a raft of upgrades introduced to all New Generation DAF vehicles at the end of 2024, including optimised drivelines, aerodynamic enhancements and a range of advanced driver assistance systems, resulting in an impressive fuel efficiency improvement of an additional 3%.

Optimised driveline efficiency is achieved through new engine valve timing, a dual drive coolant pump and a two-cylinder clutched air compressor. Turbocharger and EGR systems have also been updated. New fuel injectors also deliver excellent efficiency, reliability and durability.

Reinforcing DAF’s market leadership across a range of applications, two Flame Red vehicles, plus a DAF XB Electric 19-tonner, will appear on DAF Trucks’ outside stand at RTX:

DAF-XG-530-FTT-6x4-Heavy-Haulage-Tractor-381A4601

The DAF XG 530 FTT double-drive heavy-hauler is rated for gross combination weights up to 150 tonnes. It will soon enter DAF’s demonstration fleet, allowing operators in heavy-duty sectors, such as machinery transport and plant haulage, to evaluate the model’s capabilities first-hand.

Under the cab is the PACCAR MX-13; a 12.9-litre, 530hp six-cylinder engine delivering up to 2600Nm of torque between 1000–1400rpm. Paired with a 12-speed TraXon automated transmission, the driveline has been specially calibrated for heavy haulage applications. The chassis features a nine-tonne parabolic front axle, HR1670T tandem hub reduction axles (4.55:1 ratio), and air suspension for high-load stability. A Jost JSK 38C1 sliding fifth wheel rounds out the heavy-haulage specification.

XDC 410 FAD 8x4

XDC 450 FAD 8x4 32-tonne Tipper – DAF will also exhibit its rugged XDC 450 FAD 8x4 tipper chassis, designed for construction, utilities and urban off-road work. With its robust chassis and off-road functionality, this vehicle is ideally suited to demanding environments.

Power comes from the PACCAR MX-11 engine; a 10.8-litre unit generating 449hp and 2350Nm of torque. The 12-speed TraXon automated gearbox includes software carefully optimised for construction use, with off-road modes and ‘Rock-Free’ functionality to aid traction in challenging conditions.

The XDC Day Cab features the cinema-style folding passenger seat, kerb-view window, and Vision Dash, earning a 3-star London Direct Vision Standard rating. A Charlton GrabLite body features an Auto-Loc ‘R1.5’ tailgate. The crane is a Palfinger Epsilon M125LC82 with MK602-500 bucket and rotator.

DAF XB Electric

DAF XB 190 FA Electric is a zero emission 19-tonne rigid powered by a 190 kW EX-M2 E-Motor. Peak torque of 3500 Nm between 200-550 rpm – max continuous torque of 2000 Nm at 0-900 rpm. Equipped for DC fast charging up to 150 kW DC and with an on-board converter to facilitate up to 22 kW AC charging. Lithium Ferro Phosphate battery pack provides 282 kWh delivering a range of up to 280 km. A 650v ePTO is capable of delivering up to 90 kW. This exhibit is fitted with an ex-factory PACCAR body designed and manufactured at Leyland Trucks.

Ride & Drive

There’s also an opportunity for visitors (holding an HGV licence) to test drive two popular DAF vehicles, a flagship XG530 6x2 tractor unit (pictured above) and trailer, and a rugged XDC 410 eight-wheel tipper (pictured above). For those not wishing to drive, there’s the option to ride with a DAF expert.
